Traditional Nitrogen:

Traditional nitrogen for food plotters (1/2 to hundreds of acres) is usually UAN or Urea. These are "proven" to provide nitrogen but people tolerate ALL THE PROBLEMS because they thought they were the only options... UNTIL NOW.

Problems with traditional Nitrogen:

-Cost. It's high and with uncertainty about it's effectiveness or harm, it's no wonder why food plotters are under fertilizing these days.
-Corrosion. UAN and Urea are a salt, chemically speaking. They corrode equipment and can negatively affect soil health. Because of their harsh characteristics, applying directly to plant tissue can "burn" your desired crop.
-Difficult to apply... correctly. There forms of nitrogen need to be incorporated into the soil immediately to avoid runoff or loosing nitrogen to the atmosphere. Most food plotters lack the equipment to "knife" nitrogen into the soil and lack the time to incorporate it, not to mention the side effects of incorporation.
-Incorporation (tillage) promotes weed growth, risks serious loss of soil moisture and can disrupt soil health by disturbing soil microbiology.
-Soil microbiology can be harmed and often is harmed immediately next to the synthetic nitrogen, much to say on this topic, but microbiology and earthworms are the key to great food plots and helping your deer prefer you plots over your neighbor's. Please search the web as there is much useful information easy to find.
-UAN contains Urea and Ammonium nitrate, which must be "converted" into Nitrate by soil microbiology, which does occur, but requires good soil health to utilize prior to loss by way of leaching or dissipation.
-Incompatibility with biologics and herbicides. The chemistry of traditional nitrogen combined with it's likely granular form make it impossible/unwise to mix with biologics or herbacide. Imagine if you could apply a superior form of nitrogen in one pass, with biologics and herbacide... read on!

Our Nitrogen:
How much does it cost?

Roughly half of traditional nitrogen! But cost savings pales in comparison to all the other benefits. Sound to good to be true? Most newer technologies sound too good at first... until they are understood. The technology was invented in 1903, but until recently, the electrical input was so high that the cost to produce a gallon of this nitrogen was roughly twice that of UAN/Urea. Green Lightning, the manufacturer of my machine "perfected" the electric circuitry and we now can produce the same, plasma generated Nitrate product at very low electrical cost, thus yielding this great product at a great price per gallon.

What exactly is our product?

Our product is a plasma generated, water soluble nitrogen consisting primarily of Nitrate with a small amount of Nitrite. Nitrite is used by soil microbiology similarly as nitrite from UAN or Urea. Nitrate....roughly 90% of our product is plant-ready from day one! Approximately 3 pounds of nitrogen equivalent per gallon of product. This is real nitrogen, designed to use per soil testing for applications ranging from 20 pounds/acre to 200+ per acre depending on the crop. It is not a "concentrate" product that seems to be trendy these days, which may show a boost, but simply lacks the pounds per acre to significantly alter the math.

Is it compatible with micronutrients and Herbacide?

Oh Yes! This may be my favorite attribute. We often add liquid based micronutrients to our spray applications, particularly for foliar application so as to feed the plant extra micronutrients that are often lacking in soil. A good soil test can help you understand which to add and a general, broad-based supplement can work wonders as long as you don't overdo it. We especially like this combination for fruit and nut trees.

Herbicide compatibility may be the most exciting benefit to our nitrogen.
1-One pass... you can apply herbicide mixed into our product and accomplish both in one pass!
2-Using our nitrogen in place of water, whether full rate or diluted provides an excellent "carrier" for the herbicide. You may not be aware but most water on deer farms has mineral content that prevents herbicide from performing to its best potential. This is why there are so many additives available. By replacing water with our nitrogen, we have been able to reduce the herbicice per acre and get better performance.
3 Reduced Herbacide equals reduced cost and negative impact on your soil health.
4 3-18-18 is a water soluble, spray on fertilizer providing much P and K for your plots and we add it to our first pass or "burn-down" applications. The two mix well together.

Corrosive?

Because our nitrogen is not a "salt" is minimally corrosive.

Easy to apply?

Absolutely! Any spray equipment can be used to apply our nitrogen, from small plots or fruit trees with a backpack sprayer to ATV/3-point sprayers for small to large plots.

Do I need to incorporate this nitrogen?

Not at all, however depending on how much you apply there may be some benefits to incorporation. We however don't incorporate it since it so effective without incorporation and since we avoid tillage for the reasons mentioned above (soil health and extra time).

How will this affect my soil health?

In short, it will have little impact. Studies on this topic are mixed but the harm to soil by our product is documented to be less than UAN/Urea. While there are some benefits to soil health from all forms of nitrogen, we feel that doing less harm is safer and less risky....namely this product allows the soil to be soil and itfeeds the plant the nitrate it wants.

Nitrate is the form that plants use?

For the most part, Nitrate is the form of nitrogen that plans use and it is "plant ready". Plants uptake it through roots as well as foliar, which is a fantastic tool for food plotters and orchard growers. While traditional nitrogen "burns" growing plant tissue, water soluble nitrate is far less damaging and can be absorbed through leaves, which is a highly effective way to feed your plots and trees when they are at the proper growth stage, not to mention less wasteful than spreading on the ground and hoping that plants grow and utilize all you have spread.
